New Jersey isn't one design problem. It's a hundred of them, town by town.

Interior Design in New Jersey

New Jersey has more housing stock per square mile than almost anywhere in the country, and almost none of it matches. A shingle-style river house in Rumson, a 1920s Tudor in Short Hills, a Victorian with a wraparound porch in Spring Lake, a brick Georgian on two acres in Saddle River, a postwar split level in Livingston waiting for its third addition, a new build on an infill lot in Freehold. Different decades, different framing, different ceiling heights, different problems. A firm that designs the same room everywhere gets found out fast in this state.

INSABELLADESIGN has worked in New Jersey since 1996. The studio is at 160 White Road in Little Silver, in Monmouth County, and the practice reaches across New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and Florida. Nearly thirty years in, that adds up to more than 3 million square feet designed and over 500 clients. We are ASID and IIDA members and a WBENC-certified woman-owned firm, and founder and principal Beth Insabella Walsh leads every project herself.

What New Jersey owners ask for is usually the same thing said four different ways: one firm that can take the whole thing. Space planning that fixes a closed-off first floor. A kitchen that finally works for the way the family cooks and entertains. Millwork and lighting that make an older house feel deliberate instead of patched. Furnishings and art that land on the same day the punch list closes. We handle all of it in house, and we manage the trades and the calendar so the owner isn't the general contractor by accident. Much of our work comes from referrals, which is what tends to happen when a firm stays in one state for three decades and answers its own phone.

What We Design Across New Jersey

On the residential side we take on whole-home renovations, gut interiors, additions, and new construction, plus single-room projects when the room deserves it. That means architecture-grade space planning, custom kitchens built around real cooking and real entertaining, primary baths in honed stone and custom vanities, paneled studies and libraries, mudrooms, wine rooms, and the built-ins that make a big house feel resolved. Lighting is designed room by room rather than dropped in at the end. Furnishings, textiles, rugs and art are selected as part of the same plan, not as an afterthought. We work with architects and builders from the earliest drawings when a project is ground-up, shaping proportion, window placement and material palette before framing starts.

The commercial practice runs on the same full-service model. Law and financial offices, private medical and dental practices, corporate suites and executive floors, hospitality interiors, showrooms and retail. Space planning, custom millwork and casework, lighting design, finishes chosen to survive daily traffic, furniture specification and installation, and project management from first drawing to opening day. One thing we don't do: home staging. We design interiors people live and work in, not rooms dressed for a listing photo.

Why New Jersey Chooses INSABELLADESIGN

New Jersey Interior Design — FAQs

What parts of New Jersey do you serve?

The studio is in Little Silver, in Monmouth County, and we work throughout the state, from the shore towns and the Navesink and Shrewsbury river communities up through Essex and Bergen County. Outside New Jersey we also take projects in New York, Connecticut and Florida. If you're unsure whether your town is a fit, call and ask.

Do you take on both residential and commercial projects?

Yes, and always have. Roughly the same team handles a whole-home renovation and a 12,000-square-foot office floor, because the discipline is the same: space planning first, then millwork, lighting, finishes and furnishings, then installation. Nearly thirty years of work adds up to more than 3 million square feet designed across both.

Do you offer home staging?

No. We are a full-service interior design firm, not a staging company. Our work is permanent construction and specification: space planning, custom kitchens and baths, millwork, lighting, furnishings, art and project management. If you're preparing a house for sale rather than for living in, we're not the right call.

Who actually runs my project?

Beth Insabella Walsh, the founder and principal, leads every project from the first meeting through installation. You are not handed off to a junior designer after the presentation. A small senior team supports her, along with a bench of millworkers, painters, plaster artisans and installers we've worked with for years.
