Interior Design in Navesink, New Jersey
Navesink sits at roughly 118 feet above sea level, high ground compared to Locust and the waterfront sections of Middletown below it. Monmouth Avenue, the spine of the older village core, follows the old King's Highway — the road retreating British troops used after the Battle of Monmouth in 1778, headed for Sandy Hook. That older core, close-set 19th-century buildings along Monmouth and Locust Avenues, is its own Navesink Historic District; the custom houses on the surrounding hillside are a newer, separate story.
Interior design for Navesink's hillside custom homes runs into a different rule than the historic district does: Middletown's Steep Slope Conservation District limits how much of a lot on real grade can be disturbed, as little as 15 percent on the steepest sites, and any structure over 500 square feet needs an engineer's grading plan before it needs a floor plan. INSABELLADESIGN has practiced full-service interior design since 1996: space planning, kitchens and baths, millwork, lighting, furnishings.

Luxury Residential Interior Design in Navesink
Most of our Navesink work is new construction or whole-home renovation on these hillside lots: kitchens built around real cooking and oriented to the water, primary suites with a freestanding tub positioned toward the view, great rooms with real ceiling height rather than a flat eight feet pretending to be grand. Wine rooms and a proper mudroom round out houses built to be lived in daily, not just admired from the road below.
On a lot where the Steep Slope Conservation District caps how much grade can be disturbed, the site plan and the interior plan get decided together, with the architect, the civil engineer, and us in the same conversation from the earliest drawings. Materials lean transitional-to-contemporary: natural stone, rift-cut wood, plaster, and glass sized to frame the ridge rather than a standard window opening.

Commercial Interior Design in Navesink
Navesink itself is almost entirely residential, so our commercial work serves the surrounding Two River towns: private medical and professional offices, boutique practices, and select hospitality interiors. The same standard carries over from the hillside houses — durable finishes and lighting planned around how the space is actually used, scaled to a business rather than a family.

The INSABELLADESIGN Difference
Beth Insabella Walsh leads every Navesink project personally, from the first site walk through installation, with the same small team throughout. On a steep hillside lot, where the Township Engineer, the architect, and the interior designer are all working from the same grading plan, that continuity means fewer conflicting decisions about where a wall or a window actually lands.
INSABELLADESIGN is a WBENC-certified, woman-owned firm and a member of ASID and IIDA, working with the same millworkers, plasterers, and installers across Monmouth County. On a hillside site, where a structural mistake costs far more to correct than it would on level ground, having trades who already know how these houses are built protects the work from the foundation up.

I must say it's been my pleasure to have had the opportunity to work with Beth and her team at Insabella Design. My boss has been a long time client of Beth, over 25 years. And over those many years I was fortunate enough to work with Beth directly. She is extremely attentive and knows exactly what needs to be done. She has designed numerous major renovations and reconstruction projects for us. She has always been a pleasure to work with from the beginning of the projects to the very end. If I ever needed something in a pinch she always makes it happen. I would be completely lost without her and her support in keeping my boss comfortable and happy. Thank you Beth, to you and your team for your excellent services.

How a Project Works
1. Start with a conversation
A consultation at our Little Silver studio or your property. We talk through the space, the scope, how you live or work in it, and what you want the finished project to accomplish. No obligation, and you will always be speaking with Beth.
2. Design and decisions
Space planning, materials, millwork and cabinetry design, lighting, and furnishings developed into one coherent plan, with drawings and documentation your contractor and trades can actually build from.
3. We carry it to the finish
We coordinate the trades, manage orders and timelines, and stay on the project through installation and styling, so you get a completed space rather than a plan left for you to assemble.

Navesink Interior Design FAQs
Are you interior designers or interior decorators?
We are a full-service design firm. That means space planning and design documentation, custom kitchens and baths, millwork, lighting, furnishing and installation. Decoration is part of the work, not the whole of it.
What does full service include?
Drawings, custom millwork and casework, lighting design, finishes, furnishings, procurement, trade coordination and installation. We coordinate the trades and manage the schedule.
Have you worked in this area?
Yes. Holmdel Residence, Colts Neck Residence and Monmouth Medical Center are in Monmouth County. The studio is in Little Silver and we work across New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and Florida.
Do you design commercial spaces as well as homes?
Yes. Alongside residential work we design medical, corporate, government, retail and multifamily interiors. Work in Monmouth County includes Monmouth Medical Center, Monmouth County Prosecutors Office and Monmouth County Child Advocacy Center.
Do you take single rooms, or only whole homes?
Both. Scope runs from a single room to a full renovation or new build.
How do your fees work?
It depends on scope, from a single room to a full renovation or new build. After an initial consultation we provide a detailed proposal.
Who leads the project?
Beth Insabella Walsh, the firm’s founder, leads every project.
