For Locust, whole-home design is where we're strongest: reimagining large residences on wooded and waterfront lots to feel current, warm, and connected to their setting. We design chef-caliber kitchens, spa primary suites with honed stone and freestanding tubs, great rooms that open to the trees and water, wine rooms, and the millwork, built-ins, and layered lighting that make an expansive home feel intentional rather than cavernous.

1. Start with a conversation
A consultation at our Little Silver studio or your property. We talk through the space, the scope, how you live or work in it, and what you want the finished project to accomplish. No obligation, and you will always be speaking with Beth.
2. Design and decisions
Space planning, materials, millwork and cabinetry design, lighting, and furnishings developed into one coherent plan, with drawings and documentation your contractor and trades can actually build from.
3. We carry it to the finish
We coordinate the trades, manage orders and timelines, and stay on the project through installation and styling, so you get a completed space rather than a plan left for you to assemble.

Do you design homes that connect to Locust's wooded and waterfront settings?
Yes, that is the starting point for every Locust project. We orient the main rooms toward the trees or the water first, then choose glazing, stone, and wood that hold up to that exposure without looking like they are trying too hard. The house should read as though it grew out of the lot, not as though it was dropped onto it.
Can you renovate a large home on a wooded lot without making it feel cold or cavernous?
Absolutely, and it usually comes down to scale of detail rather than scale of the room. A twenty-foot ceiling needs millwork and light fixtures sized to match it, several sources of light instead of one, and furniture grouped to create smaller moments within the larger volume. Get that right and a big room reads as generous, not empty.
Will Beth Insabella Walsh personally lead my project?
Yes, start to finish. She is the one on site walking the lot with you before anything is drawn, since orientation to the trees and water has to be right from day one, and she stays on the job through the last piece of furniture placed.
Do you handle waterfront homes specifically?
We do. Waterfront design means orienting rooms to the water, choosing finishes that stand up to shore conditions, and planning the flow from interior to terrace and dock. It's a specialty we bring to homes along the Navesink and the shore.
Do you take on new construction in Locust?
Yes. We collaborate with your architect and builder from the earliest drawings, shaping proportions, window placement, and materials so the home and its setting are designed as one, then carry the interior through to furnishings and art.
How is pricing determined?
It depends on scope, from a single suite to a whole-home renovation or new build. After an initial consultation we provide a clear, detailed proposal so you know exactly what to expect.
