Fair Haven's oldest houses sit where the town started: along what's now Fair Haven Road, built up after Jeremiah Chandler put a house on the riverbank in 1816 and steamboats began stopping at Chandler's Dock by 1850, carrying oysters up to New York. That cluster of nineteenth-century houses on Fair Haven Road, Clay Street, DeNormandie Avenue, and Gillespie Street is still known locally as the Old Village, and it sets the tone for a borough that's kept its scale since incorporating in 1912.

Luxury Residential Interior Design in Fair Haven
In the Old Village, the work is mostly about restraint: narrow original stairs, low ceilings, and small window openings that come with a house this age, reconciled with a family's real list, a working island, a primary bath with real storage, without widening a stair that's original to 1870. We restore mantels and moldings where they survive, match new millwork to what's there, and put mechanical upgrades where the walls will actually let them go.
Streets like Battin Road and around Fair Haven Fields carry newer colonial and craftsman houses with fewer constraints and more square footage to plan well: custom kitchens built for real family life, spa primary baths with freestanding tubs, and the built-ins, banquettes, and mudroom casework that a family with a boat, bikes, and a dog actually needs by the back door.

The studio itself is a short drive away in Little Silver, on the same stretch of river towns as Fair Haven, working the same tides.
We're a WBENC-certified, woman-owned firm, and Beth holds both ASID and IIDA credentials. Part of what keeps an Old Village renovation on track is the bench: millworkers and installers who already know how a nineteenth-century Fair Haven frame behaves before the first day of demolition.

How a Project Works
1. Start with a conversation
A consultation at our Little Silver studio or your property. We talk through the space, the scope, how you live or work in it, and what you want the finished project to accomplish. No obligation, and you will always be speaking with Beth.
2. Design and decisions
Space planning, materials, millwork and cabinetry design, lighting, and furnishings developed into one coherent plan, with drawings and documentation your contractor and trades can actually build from.
3. We carry it to the finish
We coordinate the trades, manage orders and timelines, and stay on the project through installation and styling, so you get a completed space rather than a plan left for you to assemble.
