Bergen County builds big. The discipline is making a large house feel considered rather than merely large.

Interior Design in Bergen County

Bergen County brings together larger homes, established residential streets, postwar houses, professional offices, and medical environments. The design question is often not simply how to make a space more polished. It is how to give rooms a clear hierarchy, manage the relationship between formal and informal use, and select materials that feel appropriate to the architecture and the pace of the setting.

INSABELLADESIGN has been designing interiors since 1996. We are based at 160 White Road in Little Silver, and we work across New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and Florida. Nearly thirty years of practice adds up to more than 3 million square feet designed and over 500 clients. We are ASID and IIDA members and a WBENC-certified woman-owned firm, and founder and principal Beth Insabella Walsh leads every project herself, start to finish.

Owners here are, for the most part, people who commute into Manhattan or run something of their own. The recurring brief is scale handled with restraint: a 9,000-square-foot floor plan that still reads as a home, a kitchen and adjoining family room that work as one room without turning into an airport terminal, a two-story entry that gains proportion instead of just volume. We manage the trades, the lead times and the installation so the project lands when we said it would.

What We Design Across Bergen County

Our residential scope can include whole-home planning, kitchens, primary suites, libraries, family rooms, millwork, lighting, art, and furnishings. We examine scale, natural light, storage, circulation, and the transitions between rooms before developing a finish direction.

Professional, medical, office, and client-facing interiors need a plan for privacy, wayfinding, comfort, maintenance, and first impressions. We develop those decisions together so the business environment is not reduced to a reception desk and furniture order.

INSABELLADESIGN was established in 1996 by founder and principal Beth Insabella Walsh, ASID, IIDA, CID. The studio is based in Little Silver, New Jersey and is WBENC-certified and woman-owned. A principal-led process connects the design direction to the planning, materials, documentation, sourcing, coordination, and installation support appropriate to the engagement.

Residential work in Bergen County runs from full gut renovations of established colonials and Tudors to reworking large 1990s houses room by room, plus ground-up construction on the bigger lots. We start with space planning, then build the interior architecture: custom kitchens with real working zones and butler's pantries, primary suites with honed stone baths and proper closet planning, paneled libraries, wine rooms, home offices built for people who now work from home part of the week, and the custom millwork, casework and ceiling detail that give a large house a reason for its height. Lighting is designed room by room. Furnishings, rugs, textiles and art are specified against the same plan and installed together. On new construction we join the architect and builder at schematic design, while proportion and window placement are still adjustable.

The commercial practice fits Bergen County's business geography. Law and financial offices near the Hackensack courthouse, private medical, dental, surgical and specialty practices around the hospital corridor, corporate and executive suites along the Route 17 and Route 4 office parks, showrooms and retail interiors. Each project gets space planning, custom millwork and casework, lighting design, code-appropriate durable finishes, furniture specification and project management through occupancy. We do not do home staging.

Why Bergen County Chooses INSABELLADESIGN

Bergen County Interior Design — FAQs

How do you approach a larger Bergen County home?

We start with how the rooms need to relate to one another, which spaces should feel more intimate, and where lighting, furnishings, millwork, or storage can establish a clearer sense of purpose. Square footage alone does not determine the design.

Will Beth Insabella Walsh be involved?

Beth is the founder and principal. She guides the design direction with a senior team supporting the detailed work of coordination, documentation, sourcing, and installation support appropriate to the project.
