Interior Design in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey
Upper Saddle River was chartered in 1894, one of twenty-six Bergen County boroughs incorporated that year, and the zoning has held since: one acre per house, minimum, across nearly the whole borough. The Saddle River runs through the middle of it. Mahwah, Montvale, Ramsey, and Saddle River border it on the New Jersey side; Airmont and Chestnut Ridge sit just over the state line in New York. That acre minimum is the first fact behind any interior design project here: it removes the argument for building to the property line, so the house itself has to feel substantial, not the lot.
The borough filled in fast and late: about seven hundred residents in 1950, nearly eight thousand by 1970. What went up then has spent the decades since being torn down and rebuilt, or added onto past recognition, and today the streets read as a run of large brick colonials, stone-and-cedar customs, and confident new construction. Inside is where they split: the ones where the millwork, lighting, and proportions actually got resolved, and the ones where a big floor plan got furnished instead. A two-story foyer reads as gracious or just tall, depending which.

Luxury Residential Interior Design in Upper Saddle River
Executive households here are big and busy, and the kitchen carries most of that weight. We build them around real cooking and real storage: furniture-grade cabinetry, stone counters, a walk-in pantry, an island long enough for homework at one end and prep at the other. Primary suites get the same attention at the opposite end of the house: heated stone floors, a freestanding tub, and a layout built as an actual retreat rather than a bigger bedroom.
The acre buys space; the millwork is what makes a house feel designed for it instead of placed on it. A paneled study for the home office. A mudroom built to survive four kids, a dog, and a winter. Coffered ceilings and wainscot give a great room some architecture of its own. We plan lighting in three layers, ambient, task, and accent, and we scale furniture to the room so nothing floats in the middle of the floor.

A consultation at our Little Silver studio or your property. We talk through the space, the scope, how you live or work in it, and what you want the finished project to accomplish. No obligation, and you will always be speaking with Beth.
2. Design and decisions
Space planning, materials, millwork and cabinetry design, lighting, and furnishings developed into one coherent plan, with drawings and documentation your contractor and trades can actually build from.
3. We carry it to the finish
We coordinate the trades, manage orders and timelines, and stay on the project through installation and styling, so you get a completed space rather than a plan left for you to assemble.
