Spring Lake gives us some of the most architecturally ambitious homes at the shore, and we design to that ceiling, literally. We work with soaring rooms, grand staircases, ornate original millwork, and deep bay windows, restoring and reinterpreting period detail while bringing in the scale of furnishings, lighting, and window treatments these spaces demand. A room this tall needs a chandelier with real presence and drapery that reaches the height; we plan for the drama the house was built to hold.
Underneath the grandeur, we make these Victorians work for now. That means chef-caliber kitchens carved thoughtfully into homes that were never designed for open plans, spa primary baths with freestanding tubs and heated stone, added powder rooms and butler's pantries, and discreetly modern systems threaded through century-old walls. The trick is invisibility: new comfort that never fights the old character.

A consultation at our Little Silver studio or your property. We talk through the space, the scope, how you live or work in it, and what you want the finished project to accomplish. No obligation, and you will always be speaking with Beth.
2. Design and decisions
Space planning, materials, millwork and cabinetry design, lighting, and furnishings developed into one coherent plan, with drawings and documentation your contractor and trades can actually build from.
3. We carry it to the finish
We coordinate the trades, manage orders and timelines, and stay on the project through installation and styling, so you get a completed space rather than a plan left for you to assemble.

Do you have experience with Spring Lake's historic Victorian homes?
Yes, Victorians and shingle-style homes are most of what we do at the shore. The usual issue is a house chopped into small, dark rooms by a previous renovation, so a lot of our work is reopening those plans and choosing furniture and lighting at a scale that actually suits ten and twelve-foot ceilings instead of getting lost in them.
Can you add a modern kitchen to a period home without ruining its character?
Yes, and it usually comes down to where the kitchen sits in the floor plan rather than how it looks. Victorians were built with the kitchen tucked away from the entertaining rooms, so we spend real time figuring out how to open a connection to the dining and family spaces without removing a wall that was actually holding up the second floor.
How do you furnish rooms with such high ceilings?
By resisting the urge to under-furnish. A sofa or a rug sized for a normal room disappears in a space with twelve-foot ceilings, so we go up: taller casegoods, art hung higher than instinct suggests, and window treatments that run the full height of the window rather than stopping at a standard drapery length.
Do you work on beachfront homes on Ocean Avenue?
Yes, throughout Spring Lake: from the Ocean Avenue beachfront to the estates around the lake and the avenues in between. We tailor each interior to its architecture, light, and proximity to the sea.
Will you use a richer palette than a typical beach house?
We can. Spring Lake's architecture supports deeper, more formal choices, such as jewel tones, papered dining rooms, and antiques, layered with coastal light. We calibrate the palette to your home and taste.
Is the founder personally involved in the project?
Yes. Beth is the one who walks the house first and makes the calls on anything structural or historic, and she does not step back once the design phase ends. On a house with this much history, having one person carry that judgment through construction matters more than it would on a newer build.
