Allenhurst was built, not settled. In 1895 the Coast Land Improvement Company bought Abner Allen's farm and platted it as a resort for summer residents; the borough incorporated in 1897. Those same years reshaped Deal Lake, closing its ocean inlet and turning a tidal estuary into the water that forms the borough's western edge. Interior design in Allenhurst answers to that plan: one of the smallest municipalities on the Jersey Shore, laid out start to finish, not grown over generations.
Much of that planned borough now sits inside the Allenhurst Residential Historic District: Colonial Revival, Shingle-style, and Dutch Colonial houses along Corlies Avenue, Hume Street, and the streets toward the Elberon border. A house in the district carries real constraints, since exterior changes typically need review, so the interior is often where a family makes its mark, behind a facade that has to stay recognizable from the street.

Luxury Residential Interior Design in Allenhurst
In an Allenhurst house, the kitchen and primary bath are almost always where a whole-home project starts. We open the kitchen into the rooms it was walled off from, run custom cabinetry to the ceiling height the house already has, and rebuild the primary bath with heated stone floors and a freestanding tub, often combining two small original rooms into one.
The formal rooms get a different kind of attention. Entry halls, paneled libraries, and dining rooms keep their original moldings, ceiling heights, and door symmetry, since those proportions are what the district exists to protect. Behind them, we run new wiring, lighting circuits, and mechanical systems through walls built before electricity was standard, threading conduit through closets and floor cavities instead of the plaster everyone sees. New millwork gets matched to the existing profiles.

1. Start with a conversation
A consultation at our Little Silver studio or your property. We talk through the space, the scope, how you live or work in it, and what you want the finished project to accomplish. No obligation, and you will always be speaking with Beth.
2. Design and decisions
Space planning, materials, millwork and cabinetry design, lighting, and furnishings developed into one coherent plan, with drawings and documentation your contractor and trades can actually build from.
3. We carry it to the finish
We coordinate the trades, manage orders and timelines, and stay on the project through installation and styling, so you get a completed space rather than a plan left for you to assemble.
