Bay Head sits on a barrier peninsula barely a half-mile wide in places: ocean on one side, Barnegat Bay on the other, Twilight Lake tucked between them. The Bay Head Yacht Club was founded in 1888 for yachting and rowing; members raced Barnegat Bay sneakboxes on water shallow enough to sail by feel, and the club helped found the Barnegat Bay Yacht Racing Association in 1914. Houses here stay shingled and built low. Interior design for Bay Head works within that same restraint.
Many of these houses have stayed in the same family for generations, updated only when it finally becomes necessary. Because the whole peninsula sits close to sea level, flood-elevation rules now shape a renovation almost as much as any design decision: how much of the ground floor can be finished space, where mechanical systems go, whether an addition trips a threshold that requires raising the house. Luxury Residential Interior Design in Bay Head
A Bay Head renovation almost always starts with the same question: what stays exactly as it is. The porch and the sightline from the front door to the water are usually non-negotiable, so we plan around them. Beyond that, the typical project reconfigures a warren of small, low-ceilinged summer bedrooms into fewer, larger primary suites, opens the kitchen into rooms it was never connected to, and rebuilds it for a family that actually cooks.
The materials have to survive salt air and bay humidity, which punish the wrong choice fast. We spec quartersawn white oak and painted millwork that won't telegraph seasonal humidity swings the way flat-sawn wood does, unlacquered brass and stainless hardware that ages on purpose instead of pitting, and performance linens and indoor-outdoor weaves that shrug off wet swimsuits and sandy feet. The goal is a house that still looks right in a decade, not one that looks expensive on delivery day.

Commercial Interior Design in Bay Head
Bay Head's commercial district is a few blocks on Bridge and Mount: boutiques, a handful of galleries, and an inn that reads more like a large private house than a hotel. We bring the same restraint to these spaces that we bring to the residences: durable millwork, considered lighting, and finishes built for salt air and heavy summer foot traffic. 1. Start with a conversation
A consultation at our Little Silver studio or your property. We talk through the space, the scope, how you live or work in it, and what you want the finished project to accomplish. No obligation, and you will always be speaking with Beth.
2. Design and decisions
Space planning, materials, millwork and cabinetry design, lighting, and furnishings developed into one coherent plan, with drawings and documentation your contractor and trades can actually build from.
3. We carry it to the finish
We coordinate the trades, manage orders and timelines, and stay on the project through installation and styling, so you get a completed space rather than a plan left for you to assemble.
