Interior Design in Point Pleasant, New Jersey
The Point Pleasant Canal opened in 1925, connecting the Manasquan River to Barnegat Bay and splitting the borough in two. Two lift bridges, at Route 88 and Bridge Avenue, carry traffic over it, and in summer they can go up as often as 300 times a day for boat traffic; anyone who has waited on a July Saturday already knows the number is real. Between the canal, the Manasquan River to the north, Barnegat Bay to the west, and Beaver Dam Creek marking the southern line, an outsized share of the borough's housing sits directly on water.
That geography is also the design brief. A river, canal, bay, or lagoon lot means bulkheads, docks, and outdoor space that works as hard as the interior, and it means renovating under the flood-elevation rules that followed Hurricane Sandy up and down the Shore. Point Pleasant sits across the canal from Point Pleasant Beach and its boardwalk, and borders Bay Head, Brick, Mantoloking, and Brielle. Housing runs from older cottages near that boardwalk to year-round colonials inland to canal-front houses with a boat tied up out back.

Luxury Residential Interior Design in Point Pleasant
Much of the work we take on is renovation: taking a dated cottage or a builder-basic house and giving it real flow, usually by opening the kitchen to the living space, adding a proper primary suite and mudroom, and reorienting the plan toward the water on river and lagoon lots instead of away from it. Threading in custom millwork and built-ins is often what turns a cramped, dark cottage into something bright and easy to host in.
The finishes are upscale and the planning is practical, because these houses work harder than a typical suburban home: kitchens built around real cooking with generous islands, spa baths with freestanding tubs and heated floors, wide-plank floors, and the storage and bunk space a real shore house needs. Lighting gets planned for a house that's dark by six in January and full sun in July, with dimmers doing a lot of the work. Outdoor showers, a beverage station, and seating for a crowd matter as much as anything inside, since these houses fill up all season and still have to work for two people the rest of the year.

Commercial Interior Design in Point Pleasant
Point Pleasant's dining and retail scene has moved upscale in the same years the housing stock has, from waterfront seafood restaurants to boutique shops that didn't exist a decade ago. We design and refresh those interiors, giving local businesses a level of finish that stands out in a crowded summer market.

The INSABELLADESIGN Difference
The difference in a Point Pleasant renovation usually comes down to who's actually steering it. Founder Beth Insabella Walsh walks the house herself on every project, understands how the family actually uses it, from the boat traffic on the canal to a full house at Thanksgiving, and stays involved through the last detail.
We've worked this way since 1996, nearly thirty years of it. On a canal or lagoon block, a renovated house is visible from the water as much as the street, and neighbors compare notes over the dock as often as the fence line.

How a Project Works
1. Start with a conversation
A consultation at our Little Silver studio or your property. We talk through the space, the scope, how you live or work in it, and what you want the finished project to accomplish. No obligation, and you will always be speaking with Beth.
2. Design and decisions
Space planning, materials, millwork and cabinetry design, lighting, and furnishings developed into one coherent plan, with drawings and documentation your contractor and trades can actually build from.
3. We carry it to the finish
We coordinate the trades, manage orders and timelines, and stay on the project through installation and styling, so you get a completed space rather than a plan left for you to assemble.
