INSABELLADESIGN creates distinctive residential interiors for Short Hills homes, from renovation planning to complete furnishings. Beth Insabella Walsh leads the design, bringing kitchens, baths, custom cabinetry, lighting, and the pieces you value into one considered home.
In Short Hills, we design complete residential interiors as well as selected rooms, including kitchens, primary suites, libraries, and living spaces. Custom millwork, lighting, textiles, and furnishings carry the design from the floor plan into the finished room, supported by drawings, sourcing, and project coordination.

A Short Hills renovation can bring kitchens, baths, and living spaces into a more cohesive home. We develop layouts, custom cabinetry, lighting, and materials alongside the furnishing plan, from major pieces to rugs, window treatments, and the final details. Formal rooms can remain distinctive while becoming more comfortable for everyday use and entertaining.
Furnishings and collections to retain
An existing collection can give a new interior its direction. We assess furniture dimensions and condition, plan display and placement, and choose complementary fabrics and finishes so pieces from different periods work comfortably together.

Client feedback on our firm
I must say it's been my pleasure to have had the opportunity to work with Beth and her team at Insabella Design. My boss has been a long time client of Beth, over 25 years. And over those many years I was fortunate enough to work with Beth directly. She is extremely attentive and knows exactly what needs to be done. She has designed numerous major renovations and reconstruction projects for us. She has always been a pleasure to work with from the beginning of the projects to the very end. If I ever needed something in a pinch she always makes it happen. I would be completely lost without her and her support in keeping my boss comfortable and happy. Thank you Beth, to you and your team for your excellent services.

Short Hills interior design questions
Can a formal living room become more comfortable without losing its character?
Yes. We can reconsider seating, lighting, and the arrangement of retained pieces while respecting the room's architectural details. The brief begins with how you would like to use the space more often.
Can a project start with a few rooms rather than the whole home?
Yes. We can discuss a defined group of rooms and consider how they relate to the wider house. The agreed scope establishes what is designed now and any broader direction that would be useful for later work.
What affects the design budget and timeline?
The rooms involved, extent of renovation, custom work, product availability, building requirements, and installation needs all affect the project. Share your priorities and anticipated investment at the initial consultation; a detailed proposal follows that conversation.
Can you work with my architect or contractor?
Yes. We coordinate the agreed interior design scope with the relevant project professionals. Design, engineering, construction, and approvals have different responsibilities, which should be established for the individual project.
