Middlesex County does not have one look. Cranbury's Main Street is a historic district of 18th and 19th century frame houses with original moldings and stair halls you cannot fake. Ten miles north, Edison, Piscataway, Iselin and Woodbridge are large townships built out in waves — postwar ranches and splits, 1980s center-hall colonials, and newer construction with the volume ceilings and open plans that came with it. New Brunswick is a city: Rutgers, Robert Wood Johnson, rowhouses and residential towers. And along Route 1 the county turns corporate, with pharmaceutical, professional and office space that has been reworking itself hard to give people a reason to come in.

Yes. We are based in Little Silver and work across New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and Florida, which puts Cranbury, South Brunswick, Edison, Iselin, New Brunswick, Piscataway and Woodbridge comfortably in range. Beth Insabella Walsh leads every project, so you are working with the principal rather than being handed off after the first meeting.
Can you renovate a historic Cranbury house without stripping its character?
That is the point of doing it properly. New millwork gets profiled to match the original casing, base and crown, cabinetry is drawn to read as furniture rather than a modern insert, and stone and hardware are chosen to suit the period of the house. The mechanical and lighting work goes in behind all of it, so the house gets a modern plan without announcing it.
Do you take commercial and office projects in Middlesex County?
Yes — commercial is roughly half of what a full-service firm like ours does. Along the Route 1 corridor that typically means office space planning and test fits, executive suites, conference rooms, reception and lobbies, and multi-tenant common areas.
