Hoboken is a mile square of concentrated ambition, and it lives at two speeds. On one side are the 19th-century brownstones and rowhouses along Hudson and Bloomfield, with their original stoops, tall parlor floors, and a hundred and fifty years of layered history. On the other are the waterfront towers at Maxwell Place and the Uptown piers, where floor-to-ceiling glass frames the Manhattan skyline like a permanent piece of art. In the brownstones, our work is about reclaiming volume without erasing history. We restore original moldings, plaster medallions, and heart-pine floors where they survive, then thread modern systems (real kitchens, spa baths, climate, lighting) through walls that were built for a different century. A parlor floor becomes an entertaining level with a chef-caliber kitchen and a proper island; the garden level opens to a rear yard that most people forget Hoboken even has.
In the towers and lofts, the challenge flips. The bones are new and the views are extraordinary, but the interiors arrive generic. We give them substance: custom millwork and built-ins that solve the storage problem every condo has, warm materials that keep glass boxes from feeling like hotel lobbies, and lighting layered so the skyline reads as a feature at night rather than a black mirror. How a Project Works
1. Start with a conversation
A consultation at our Little Silver studio or your property. We talk through the space, the scope, how you live or work in it, and what you want the finished project to accomplish. No obligation, and you will always be speaking with Beth.
2. Design and decisions
Space planning, materials, millwork and cabinetry design, lighting, and furnishings developed into one coherent plan, with drawings and documentation your contractor and trades can actually build from.
3. We carry it to the finish
We coordinate the trades, manage orders and timelines, and stay on the project through installation and styling, so you get a completed space rather than a plan left for you to assemble.

Do you work on historic Hoboken brownstones?
Yes, it's central to our Hoboken practice. We work to keep whatever original character has survived (millwork, floors, plaster detail) intact, then run the kitchen, bath, and mechanical work in behind the historic facade, coordinating with the building department and any historic-district approvals along the way.
Can you design a waterfront condo or penthouse?
Yes. In the Maxwell Place and Uptown towers, the work is about giving a glass box some warmth and specificity: real materials, built-in storage that solves the problem every high floor has, and lighting planned in layers so the room holds its own after dark instead of competing with the view.
How do you handle such small footprints?
Every square foot has to work here, so we start with the plan, not the finishes. Built-ins, concealed storage, and furniture scaled to the exact room let a compact unit function like a much larger home.
Are you local, and do you know the buildings?
Our studio is in Little Silver, and we design throughout Hoboken and the Hudson waterfront. We know the historic-district blocks, the newer towers, and the co-op and condo boards whose approvals a renovation depends on.
Do you also design restaurants and offices in Hoboken?
Yes. Hospitality and boutique commercial work make up a real share of what we do here, from restaurant and bar buildouts to fitness studios and professional offices along Washington Street and the piers. We also work with developers on amenity floors and model residences that show a building at its best before units are finished.
