Morris County is a commuter county with real architecture in it. Chatham is compact and walkable — center-hall and Dutch colonials on tight lots within a few blocks of the Midtown Direct platform, most built between 1910 and 1950 and renovated at least once since. Morristown holds the oldest housing in the county: Federal and Greek Revival houses near the Green, Victorians on the streets running off it, and larger properties spreading out into Morris Township. Can you renovate an older Morristown or Chatham house without making it look new?
Yes, and that is usually the assignment. We match new casing, base and crown profiles to what the house already has, draw cabinetry that reads as furniture rather than a modern box dropped in, and choose stone, tile and hardware appropriate to the period. The modern plan, the mechanicals and the lighting go in quietly behind all of that.
Do you take commercial and office projects in Morris County?
We do. How do you work alongside an architect and builder?
Comfortably, and ideally early. Bringing us in at the plan stage is when interior design saves the most money, because window placement, ceiling heights, cabinetry runs and lighting locations are still on paper. From there we coordinate the interior package — millwork drawings, finish schedules, lighting and plumbing specifications — with their drawings and site schedule.
