Freehold was settled in 1685 by Scottish Presbyterians and became one of Monmouth County's three original townships in 1693, first known as Monmouth Court House. Washington's troops fought the British to a standstill nearby in June 1778, the Battle of Monmouth. The borough incorporated separately in 1919, and its downtown still carries the nineteenth-century Victorian houses built after.
INSABELLADESIGN has worked throughout Monmouth County since 1996, and Freehold pulls on both ends of that range. Downtown and along West Main Street, we work with the moldings, proportions, and older systems that come with a Victorian-era house, installing the kitchens and baths that make one genuinely comfortable now without erasing what makes it a period house in the first place. Toward the Colts Neck line and through Freehold Township's larger parcels, the challenge flips: making generous new square footage feel intentional rather than cavernous.

Luxury Residential Interior Design in Freehold
In Freehold's historic and older homes, we restore rather than erase: original detail and proportion stay, while a custom kitchen goes in with real cabinetry, stone surfaces, and integrated appliances, and a primary bath gets heated floors and a freestanding tub built to feel original to the house rather than bolted on. The seams shouldn't show.
Toward Colts Neck and the township's larger parcels, the work is about scale and warmth together: paneled studies, a wine room, layered living and dining spaces, and the millwork, built-ins, and lighting that give a big house both structure and a place to land at the end of the day. We plan mudrooms and boot rooms suited to a more rural, active property, and outdoor living space that makes use of the land itself.

Commercial Interior Design in Freehold
Downtown Freehold's Main Street runs through buildings with real nineteenth-century bones, the American Hotel's 1824 building among them, still standing on East Main Street. We design restaurants, professional offices, boutiques, and service businesses inside that older stock, keeping the storefronts true to the block while the interior gets a plan a modern business can actually run on.

How a Project Works
1. Start with a conversation
A consultation at our Little Silver studio or your property. We talk through the space, the scope, how you live or work in it, and what you want the finished project to accomplish. No obligation, and you will always be speaking with Beth.
2. Design and decisions
Space planning, materials, millwork and cabinetry design, lighting, and furnishings developed into one coherent plan, with drawings and documentation your contractor and trades can actually build from.
3. We carry it to the finish
We coordinate the trades, manage orders and timelines, and stay on the project through installation and styling, so you get a completed space rather than a plan left for you to assemble.

We are a full-service design firm. That means space planning and design documentation, custom kitchens and baths, millwork, lighting, furnishing and installation. Decoration is part of the work, not the whole of it.
