Interior Design in Greenwich, Connecticut
Greenwich's backcountry got its shape from one estate. In 1904 the financier Edmund Converse began assembling farmland into a 1,500-acre property he called Conyers Farm; when developers finally split it in 1980, they set a minimum lot size of ten acres, with shared trails and private roads. Neighborhoods like Round Hill still follow that pattern of large lots and long driveways. Interior design at that scale is a different exercise: a furniture plan has to match rooms built for entertaining.
The water side of town runs on a different kind of privacy. Belle Haven is a roughly 300-acre peninsula governed by its own landowners' association, with private roads and a waterfront club that opened in 1889; fewer than 200 houses sit inside it. Riverside and Old Greenwich are less closed off but share the same relationship to Long Island Sound, houses turned toward the water with docks and porches. The design questions here are about glare, humidity, and salt, not scale.

Luxury Residential Interior Design in Greenwich
A ten-thousand-square-foot house reads empty fast if the furniture plan doesn't account for the ceiling height and room count. We scale kitchens to real entertaining, waterfall islands, a working pantry, custom cabinetry, and size primary suites and studies so the proportions match the architecture instead of looking dropped into it. Wine rooms and paneled libraries are common requests here too.
On the water in Belle Haven and Riverside, the palette lightens: pale woods, linen, and stone chosen for how they read against the Sound's grey light. Materials get specified for the exposure, since salt air and marine humidity work on fabric and hardware harder than an inland room ever demands. In the backcountry, the mood turns denser: antiques mixed with commissioned pieces, deep libraries, rooms built to hold generations of furniture.

Commercial Interior Design in Greenwich
Cos Cob was Connecticut's first art colony: painters including Childe Hassam and J. Alden Weir worked out of the Bush-Holley boardinghouse from 1890 to 1920. Commercial interiors here now sit on Greenwich Avenue and inside private wealth-management suites, law offices, and members' clubs, spaces that carry the same finish level as the residential work nearby.

The INSABELLADESIGN Difference
A Greenwich project, whether a backcountry estate or a Riverside renovation on a quarter-acre lot, involves architects, builders, and landscape crews working on a single schedule. Founder Beth Insabella Walsh leads that coordination herself on every project, staying involved from the first site visit through the final placement of furniture and art. On a project with this many trades, a single point of accountability is what keeps decisions from splintering between them.
INSABELLADESIGN is ASID and IIDA credentialed, WBENC-certified and woman-owned, with more than 500 projects and 3 million square feet of interiors designed since 1996. The studio is in Little Silver, New Jersey, and travel to Fairfield County is a routine part of the practice, not an exception made for one project.

How a Project Works
1. Start with a conversation
A consultation at our Little Silver studio or your property. We talk through the space, the scope, how you live or work in it, and what you want the finished project to accomplish. No obligation, and you will always be speaking with Beth.
2. Design and decisions
Space planning, materials, millwork and cabinetry design, lighting, and furnishings developed into one coherent plan, with drawings and documentation your contractor and trades can actually build from.
3. We carry it to the finish
We coordinate the trades, manage orders and timelines, and stay on the project through installation and styling, so you get a completed space rather than a plan left for you to assemble.
