Interior Design in Westport, Connecticut
Roughly a quarter of Westport's residents live inside the hundred-year floodplain, a number that got real scrutiny after the flood zone was breached twice in the 1990s and the town tightened what can be built or rebuilt inside it. That's the fact behind most interior design in Westport, whether the address is a shingled antique on Old Hill or a rebuilt contemporary on the water at Compo Beach or Saugatuck Shores: an engineer signs off before a designer does.
Westport was its own town by 1835, carved from Fairfield, Weston, and Norwalk, but the shoreline history goes back further: British troops landed at Compo Beach in 1777 to raid Danbury, and a Minuteman statue there still marks where local militia ambushed them on the way back. The Saugatuck River splits the town into halves that still feel different, downtown Saugatuck's shops on one side, the quieter antique-colonial streets of Old Hill and Greens Farms on the other.

Luxury Residential Interior Design in Westport
On the water, that means light-filled open plans and kitchens sized for summer entertaining, spa primary baths with freestanding tubs, and screened porches and sunrooms that extend the living space toward the Sound, all built on natural materials chosen to survive salt air and sun. Mechanicals and living space both get planned around the flood line first; the finishes come after.
In the antique colonials and center-hall houses of Old Hill and Greens Farms, the work runs the other direction: restoring original detail, warming up a plan built for the 1700s, and adding the kitchens, baths, and millwork a contemporary family actually needs, while keeping what made the house worth buying in the first place.

Commercial Interior Design in Westport
Downtown Saugatuck and the Post Road carry Westport's better addresses: boutique retail and galleries, creative and media agency offices, financial and advisory practices, restaurants with an actual point of view. Custom millwork, considered lighting, and finishes suited to a downtown where a design-forward business is competing as much with the one across town as the one next door.

The INSABELLADESIGN Difference
Westport clients tend to already have a point of view; the job is sharpening it, not replacing it with ours. INSABELLADESIGN runs every project through founder Beth Insabella Walsh personally, so that collaboration happens with the principal herself, on the waterfront renovation and the downtown retail fit-out alike.
We've worked in Fairfield County since 1996, ASID and IIDA credentialed and WBENC-certified. The flood-zone rules that shape rebuilding decisions for roughly a quarter of this town aren't a footnote for us; they're one of the first questions we ask, on the same call where we ask about the kitchen.

How a Project Works
1. Start with a conversation
A consultation at our Little Silver studio or your property. We talk through the space, the scope, how you live or work in it, and what you want the finished project to accomplish. No obligation, and you will always be speaking with Beth.
2. Design and decisions
Space planning, materials, millwork and cabinetry design, lighting, and furnishings developed into one coherent plan, with drawings and documentation your contractor and trades can actually build from.
3. We carry it to the finish
We coordinate the trades, manage orders and timelines, and stay on the project through installation and styling, so you get a completed space rather than a plan left for you to assemble.

Both. Scope runs from a single room to a full renovation or new build.
How do your fees work?
It depends on scope, from a single room to a full renovation or new build. After an initial consultation we provide a detailed proposal.
