Interior Design in Westchester County
Westchester projects can involve established homes, apartments, waterfront-adjacent properties, and client-facing businesses. The useful design questions are specific: what should be preserved, which rooms are no longer supporting the people in them, how light moves through the plan, and where custom work can make the whole environment more coherent.
We serve the county broadly. Larchmont and Rye sit on Long Island Sound with their own housing stock — shingle-style, waterfront colonials, harbor-facing porches. Pelham and Pelham Manor share Bronxville's prewar DNA. Eastchester, Tuckahoe, Harrison, Purchase, Chappaqua and Armonk run north and east into larger properties and newer construction. It is one county with four or five distinct design vocabularies, and they do not borrow well from each other.
What We Design Across Westchester County
We work on whole-home renovation, kitchens, baths, libraries, family rooms, home offices, millwork, lighting, art, and furnishings. The design process respects the original scale of a house while finding a more capable response to storage, gathering, focused work, privacy, and daily routines.
For selected offices, practices, and private-client environments, planning begins with arrival, circulation, confidentiality, comfort, and finish performance. The result should be clear and well-resolved for the people who use it.
INSABELLADESIGN was established in 1996 by founder and principal Beth Insabella Walsh, ASID, IIDA, CID. The studio is based in Little Silver, New Jersey and is WBENC-certified and woman-owned. A principal-led process connects the design direction to the planning, materials, documentation, sourcing, coordination, and installation support appropriate to the engagement.
Residentially, the recurring problem here is a beautiful old house with a plan nobody would draw today: a kitchen sized for staff, a warren of small rooms at the back, one usable bathroom upstairs, and a third floor doing nothing. We start with space planning — open what should open, keep what should stay a room, and get circulation and daylight right before choosing a single finish. Then the built work: custom kitchens and butler's pantries, primary suites and baths in honed stone, paneled libraries, window seats, built-in storage, mudrooms, stair and ceiling detail, and lighting that respects plaster. Millwork is drawn to match what the house already has — profile, proportion, and hardware appropriate to a 1928 Tudor rather than borrowed from a catalog. Furnishings, rugs, textiles and art follow, and we manage the job through construction and installation.
Our commercial practice runs alongside it. Offices and executive suites, medical and dental practices, professional and financial space, hospitality, and multifamily lobbies and amenity floors — the kind of work found along the Central Avenue corridor, in White Plains, and in the village centers. Those projects add code, ADA, landlord work letters and building standards to the drawing set and run against a lease date. Apartment work in Bronxville and other prewar buildings adds a board and an alteration agreement, which we plan for from day one. We are a design firm, not a staging company: none of this is dressing for a sale.
